Just your typical Friday in 4B...

Every day I play music to call the students to Morning Meeting and everyday they head to the red rug dancing.  I love to see how they start their day in this cheerful way.  I'm telling you, this group is fun.  And, they are just as enthusiastic about learning as they are about dancing!  I love them!  And I count my lucky stars everyday to have this year with such a fun, interested and loving crew....

ROCK OF AGES!

On Halloween, the fourth grade ventured to Barre, Vermont to see the quarry where much of Vermont's granite is mined.  Despite a chilly, damp and cloudy morning, we managed to have a great time together and learned lots!  Fourth graders were inquisitive, interested and polite.  Their behavior was exemplary and made the fourth grade teachers proud.  Many thanks to all our wonderful chaperones for their help to make this first field trip a success!

4B Earns 25 Bee Cells!

4B chose to celebrate their first 25 bee cell recognitions for students using habits of mind by throwing a "Trick or Treat" party the day before Halloween.  Students enjoyed yummy snacks together while watching other students perform tricks and tell riddles.  A simple and very fun way to celebrate being the best we can be!

FOUR WINDS- Spiders

Many thanks to Gretchen Pepper and her 4th grader who taught the 4B class all about spiders and their adaptations.  Students enjoyed a spider puppet show, looking at live, captured spiders, building the anatomy of a spider, and a game that gave an arachnid web sensory experience! Four Winds teaches us all!  Thanks Gretchen!

More Engineering with Mrs. Koier

A few weeks ago, we had our last engineering session with Mrs. Koier.  Students were able to test, revise and re test our chosen bridge site.  Hands on learning at its finest!  Thank you Mrs. Koier for a wonderful engineering unit!

Remember These Sunny Days?

Once Upon a Time, the weather was so nice that 4B went outside for snack to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.  I hope the sun comes out again soon.  My class is so great!  Look how much fun they are!  I love their smiles!

Engineering with Mrs. Koier

We are so lucky to have Engineering time with Mrs. Koier!  Every week, fourth graders get to go up to Mrs. Koier's room to practice being engineers by designing a site for a tarpul bridge. Tomorrow we begin testing different bridge sites.   More pics to come....
Here, one of our amazing bees explains to the class why she feels the car is the most important technology.
"Earthquake coming!"  Two students test to see if this soil site will allow for a stable or unstable structure.
 Mrs. Koier shares about Nepal.
Taking core sample of the soil.

Share Time

In 4B, we love Morning Meeting because we have a chance to greet one another to start the day off on the "right foot" and get to know each other better through share time and activity.  Here, a student shares a cool "Tinker Craft" that he made at home and it sparks interest from the other students about all the interesting things that can be done with his creation.

BACK TO SCHOOL 2018!

The 4B Hive on the evening of August 26th, 2018

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!  The 4B Hive is already buzzing with our new swarm of 4th grade bees. I feel so lucky to be teaching this sweet group of students this year!  I am so excited to learn with all of them.  We have taken the first few days of school to get to know one another a bit, learn about our commonalities and create our hopes and dreams.  Tomorrow we start our first full week of school.  I can tell that it's going to be an amazing school year!
